War in UkraineDays after Kherson's withdrawal, major cities are hit by Russian missiles.

Days after its troops were forced to leave Kherson, Russia launched one of its largest missile attacks yet against Ukraine.

The capital Kyiv was among the urban communities hit, with authorities saying no less than one individual was viewed as dead.

From Lviv in the west to Chernihiv in the north, there were strikes all over the country.

The attacks occur at the same time that world leaders meet at the G20 in Bali, and they also come after Russia's defeat in Kherson.

Moscow received a lot of criticism there for the war in Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, stated, "It's clear what the enemy wants."They won't comprehend it."

On Tuesday, there were air raid warnings all over the country, and there were reports of power outages affecting millions of homes in several cities and Moldova.

Kyrylo Tymoshenko, the deputy head of President Zelensky's office, accused Russia of carrying out "another planned attack on energy infrastructure facilities," describing the circumstance as "critical."

A video that was shared by President Zelensky's office shows what appears to be a burning apartment block with flames billowing from its windows.

Oleksandra, a resident who is 22 years old, told the news agency Reuters that she was at home during the raid.

She stated, "I immediately went outside."I noticed that smoke was coming from our building and that people were fleeing.

A presidential adviser, Andriy Yermak, stated that Russia's response to President Zelensky's "powerful speech" at the G20 was the strikes.

During the virtual speech, Mr. Zelensky said he was "convinced now is the time when the Russian destructive war must and can be stopped" and addressed leaders of the "G19," deliberately omitting Russia.

Since launching its invasion in February, Moscow has only captured one regional capital: the southern city of Kherson, which it has pulled its troops out of.

Russia has carried out these strikes for the first time since the withdrawal was completed.

During this war, Moscow has frequently resorted to aerial combat when it has suffered ground losses.

Russia's "callous targeting of Ukrainian cities... shows only [Russian President Vladimir] Putin's weakness," according to British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly, one of Ukraine's western allies.

The US secretary of state, Antony Blinken, stated that such assaults "would not break Ukraine's will."
