The singer-actor Irene Cara has passed away. She was best known for starring in the 1980s films Fame and Flashdance and singing the movie's title songs.63, she was.

Judith Moose, Cara's publicist, announced the news on Cara's social media accounts on Saturday that she had passed away at her home in Florida.She stated that "currently unknown" was the cause of death.

Cara was born in the Bronx area of New York City to a Puerto Rican and Cuban family from the working class.Her work as a child actor included recurring roles on the children's show The Electric Company from the 1970s.
